July Newsletter
Problems viewing this email visit -

Hi and welcome to the Digital Photography Courses monthly newsletter for July 2018.

Seeing the Picture and Composition Course
As the weather is improving I would like to run some more "Seeing the Picture and Composition Courses” over the summer.

These courses have a maximum of 3-4 students as we will travel to several locations. They take place during the week, on a date to be arranged, and run from 9.30-5pm. Lunch is included. This one day course is aimed at DSLR user who are confident using their cameras but feel they struggle to "See a Picture" or need help with their composition..

We will have a series of exercises aimed at encouraging you to spot pictures in areas where you might normally walk on by. The plan is to travel light so something like the Tamron 18-270mm lens would be ideal.

If interested please let me know and we’ll sort out a suitable date. You can find details here -

Which Course Should You Do Next

I'm in the process of added a page to the website explaining the differences between the various courses. This will be updated over time but if you wish to see which courses will suit you the best then click here

Photography Course Check List.
Anyone who has attended a course in the last couple of months will have a course checklist included in their handouts. This list all the different courses plus includes a handy project guide so you can tick of the various techniques as you master them. You can download a PDF copy here.

DPC Checklist

The July project is “Up-Close and Macro”

I'm starting to notice more butterflies and insects around at the moment so the July project is “Up-Close and Macro”.

Feel free to include close-ups of other objects if you prefer. If you have the DPC Filter Kit then use the included close-up lens to get even closer but remember to take it off for normal photography.

If you enjoy this type of photography then we do have a Macro Photography Course on Sunday 12th August 2018.

As always let you imagination run free and don’t forget to upload your images to the DPC Facebook Group.

Speedlight Flash Course on Sunday 1st July.

The speedlight flash course is for people that have a speedlight and would like to know how to get the best from it.

This is useful for those who like to travel light and don't want the bulk of studio lighting.. This course does include some portrait photography, both indoors and outside, plus some creating lighting techniques.

You will require some method to fire the flash off camera but I can advise if required.

Studio Flash Portrait Course Sunday 2nd September

We also have a Studio Portrait Course on Sunday 2nd September 2018. Both courses cover portrait photography but the studio course uses various coloured backgrounds with mains powered studio flashes on light stands with softboxes and umbrellas. This day will show you how to get professional looking portrait in your own home. Everything is provided on the day and I'll make suggestions for kit a different price points.

Studio Portrait Course

We have an extra Intermediate Course on Sunday 16th September 2018

Anyone attending the Intermediate Course will require a a Polariser and a ND8 filter for the course. These can be purchased from Amazon at about £12-15 each or they are included in our exclusive DPC Filter Kit.

DPC Filter Kits now available

These kits were made especially for us so they are not available on eBay or Amazon.

They have been put together to cover a wide range of photography skills and they will be required for the Intermediate Course and the Filters for Landscape Photography Course.

If you were to buy these filters individually they would cost over £90 but they are now available from just £40 for the 52-62mm set or £50 for the 77-82mm set. I've also just added a 72mm set.

You can order your kits here -

If you haven't joined the DPC Facebook Group then you can still do so by following the links below. This is a closed group for DPC students only.

New course dates are announced first on the Facebook Group and sometimes sell out before they get into this newsletter. A good example is the Big Cat Course which sold out within 24 hours of being announced. Let me know if this is a course you would like to attend as I might try and add an extra date.
