Your Tutor - Glen Tillyard

Photography courses by Glen Tillyard

I'm an NCTJ qualified, award winning professional press photographer, with over 30 years experience in a vast range of photographic subjects.

I've also taught and lectured in photography and Photoshop at many adult colleges and schools throughout Leicestershire. We also run specialist courses for police forces, Corporates and charities, including the British Red Cross.

We understand that different students have different learning styles so we use recognised teaching methods to ensure that whatever your needs we'll aim to get the message across, without using jargon, in a way you can understand.

I now specialise in running photography courses helping beginners to get the very best from their digital camera. I'm passionate about helping you to get off the full auto setting and I'll show you how to take stunning photographs in just one day.

Please don't take my word for how good these photography courses are but take a few moments to read some of the many testimonials in the right hand column of each page and the student galleries over on the left hand navigation column.

If you have any questions about photography or buying a camera then I'm happy to answer them without obligation.

Very best wishes,
Glen Tillyard

Composition & Seeing the Picture Course -TBA -Please Contact Me

This is a Level 2 Course so you must have attended one of our Beginners Courses first. You need to know how to operate your camera before you can concentrate on your composition.

Our Mission
One of the questions I’ve been asked all my career is “How do I see a picture?”.

The Simple answer is “I don’t know. I just see the final image in my mind’s eye complete with any edits.”

Can this be taught?
The next question is “Can this be taught?” Again my answer is I don’t know... But we’re about to find out.

So what are the problems and how do we see a picture? Many of my students tell me that they understand the techniques and how to set up the camera but lack inspiration while they are wandering around “Looking for the Picture.”.

My mission is to hopefully inspire and guide you in this quest. (Oh boy! Now I’ve written that down. It looks scary.)

Lens Required

This one day course is aimed at DSLR user who are confident using their cameras but feel they struggle to "See a Picture".

We will have a series of exercises aimed at encouraging you to spot pictures in areas where you might normally walk on by. This course will change slightly each time with some different locations each time.

The plan is to travel light so something like the Tamron 18-270mm lens would be ideal.

As on most course we will be using JPG and a tripod is not required.
